James Whitmore

James has been Managing Director of Postar, Britain’s out-of-home audience measurement body, since 2006. A leading
thinker in the industry, James has instigated a new approach to research, integrating eye-tracking studies with the latest digital technology.

The new Postar will launch later this year. It is the only audience measurement body in the UK that places passive measurement systems, such as GPS tracking, at its core. James began his career at The Observer newspaper, first working in production and then in sales. In 1987 he joined Young & Rubicam’s graduate trainee programme, where he quickly showed an aptitude for media planning, winning many industry awards and ultimately rising to be Media Director.

In 1999, James set up The Media Edge. The company later became MEC and he was managing director for five years. He then set up new communications planning agency, Experience, in 2004. However the venture failed to inspire him and he joined Postar as Managing Director.
